Passenger in Winter Haven Aviation Accident Dies

George Azize, a 47 year old man from Mulberry, was in critical condition following the small airplane crash in Winter Haven. Mr. Azize was the passenger in the plane piloted by James "Jim" Trefz, 46, of Winter Haven. Trefz's dog was in the airplane at the time of the crash and miraculously survived unscathed. The plane involved in the crash was a Beechcraft 23. Mr. Trefz had approximately 400 hours of flight time and approximately 50 hours in the plane that crashed.
