Gerald: I am from Central Florida, Deland, Florida. I'm married with four
kids. I attended college in Virginia and graduate school at Florida State.
I went to law school at Cumberland in Birmingham, Alabama. I was fortunate
enough to have an opportunity to attend a great college and get a great
education. I attended Florida State and academically, I was able to have my
education paid for the entire time. I always loved the academic setting,
and it's paid off for me, I think. I still feel stimulated in what I do
here. We do a lot of medical work, a lot of medical research, and it is
I'm a trial attorney. I've been trying cases since 1984 in state, federal
courts, in Florida and in other states. I've done some appellate work as
well. I enjoy trying cases. The most fun I have in the practice law, is
when I'm in the courtroom. It makes all the work and all the effort that
you put into a case, worthwhile. It never grows boring, and it's always
exciting and unpredictable. You can't ask for more than that. It's kind of
a David and Goliath experience. It's a lot more rewarding when you're
representing the little guy, the underdog, and you're able to prevail
against a large entity that has five lawyers against you, and has all these
resources. When you manage to be victorious, that's a professional
achievement that you never get tired of.
