Four Motorcyclists Killed in Truck Accident, Sumter County

The four motorcyclists were struck head-on by a truck that was attempting to pass another vehicle.  The crash occurred at approximately 7 p.m. near County Road 476 and County Road 629 in Sumter County, Florida.  Paul Sermons, 45, of Bushnell was driving his 1991 GMC pickup truck on County Road 476 when the motorcycles were closer than he had thought.  He struck both motorcycles ejecting all four riders.  One of the victims was thrown into the windshield of the vehicle being passed.  According to the article, Sermons driver's license was suspended before the crash.  William Barker, 54, of Stuart, Patrice Poole, 55, of Mount Dora, John Holmes, 55, of Beverly Hills, and Patricia Beihayn, 52, of Hernando were killed.  The motorcyclists were heading from a daylong barbeque hosted by a mutual friend.
