Aviation Accident Jogger Dead

Robert Gary Jones was killed by a small airplane making an emergency landing.  Jones was a 38 year old pharmaceutical salesman for GlaxoSmithKline from Woodstock, Georgia on a business trip and was jogging on the beach at the time of the accident.  He was apparently looking forward to returning home for his daughter's birthday.  The airplane was a Lancair IV-P and had lost its propeller.  The airplane was basically gliding as it struck Jones.  Jones was jogging and had headphones in his ears, likely not even knowing that he was going to be hit.  The pilot was Edward I. Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia.  Smith and his passenger both walked away from the crash.  The plane originated in Orlando, Florida and was en route to Virginia when it leaked oil at 13,000 feet.  The pilot told air control that oil had leaked on his windshield blocking his vision and that the propeller had completely come off.
