Drunk Driving Hit and Run Accident

Sheriff Don Eslinger was rear-ended by a drunk driver Tuesday night.  Eslinger was driving a 2008 Nissan and was stopped at a traffic light at State Road 46A near Rinehart Road.  A DUI driver in another pickup truck hit him from behind at approximately 7:30 p.m.  Eslinger walked around the vehicle to instruct the other driver to get off of the road.  In doing so, Andrew Jones, 55, of Sanford, drove off attempting to hit and run.  Jones was later stopped near the Mayfair Meadows neighborhood near Lamplighter Lane.  Jones was arrested for DUI and refused the breath test.  Jones was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
