Orlando, Florida.  A woman was seriously injured in a boating accident between her rental boat and a Disney ferry.  The accident occurred on Walt Disney World Property.  The woman's husband was driving the rental boat at the time of the crash.  Barbara Wormald, 61, was treated for a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, and back pain from the boating accident.  After the accident, Wormald was wedged in between the two vessels.  Disney gave no official comment.  The ferry boat captain stated that the rental boat was driving recklessly and he put the ferry in reverse upon impact.  Michael Wormald said that he saw the ferry in the distance and thought it would move.  As it approached, he turned quickly to avoid the crash but the ferry ran onto the boat's passenger side and over his wife.

These types of injuries often involve disputed liability and inconsistent statements between the parties.  Oftentimes, these incidents are the result of comparative negligence, which means that both parties are to some degree at fault for the injury.  In a comparative negligence situation, the plaintiff can only recover that portion of damages that is proportional to the damages not caused by himself or herself.  If you or a loved one has been seriously injured, please contact a personal injury attorney with Moody Law in the greater Central Florida area, including Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow, Haines City, Davenport, or Polk County, Florida to discuss your case.  A consultation with one of our personal injury attorneys is free.
