A car accident killed 26-year-old Robert Lopez of Lake Wales, Florida.  Lopez was struck by a van carrying eight passengers.  The accident occurred at approximately 5:51 a.m. when Lopez tried to cross the road.  The van, was driven by Hildeberto Mandujano of Winter Haven, Florida.  The Ford van was traveling in the outside lane going east.  Police say that Lopez stepped out into the roadway.  No one in the van was injured.  Police are still investigating the accident.

Car accidents seriously injure or take the lives of many pedestrians every year.  On a highway such as SR-60, there are few opportunities for pedestrians to cross what is otherwise a relatively high speed road.  In such situations, the drivers of motor vehicles must keep a proper lookout for pedestrians and, when a pedestrian is spotted, the driver should drive "defensively" in order to avoid a collision with the pedestrian near the roadway.  Everyone who uses the roadways of our state has a duty to share the roadway.  At Moody Law, we represent those who have been injured by car accidents in the greater Central Florida area.  A personal injury lawyer serving Polk County, Lakeland, Bartow, Winter Haven, Haines City, Davenport, or Lake Wales can answer questions that you may have about the facts and circumstances of your accident case.  A consultation with one of our personal injury lawyers is free.
