Victor Guilfucci, 28, was driving a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle when he changed lanes and the vehicle in front of him slowed down.  Guilfucci attempted to slow down suddenly but struck the rear end of the car in front of him.  This accident happened at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Tampa Road near the intersection with Washington Avenue.  Guilfucci was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the car was Marco Vila, 43, of Tampa, Florida.

This accident concerns me because the motorcycle changed lanes seeming at the same time that the car in the other lane slowed down.  I question whether the cars in either lane slowed down suddenly.  It is difficult to gauge exactly what happened here.  The driver of the motorcycle has a duty to maintain control of his vehicle and avoid striking other vehicles on the road.  At the same time, the cars on the road have a duty not to suddenly slow down without warning or justification so as to avoid a collision from behind.  Mr. Guilfucci is very young to have the injuries that he has.  If you or a loved one has suffered a serious injury in the Central Florida area, please consult with a Central Florida personal injury or car accident lawyer for an evaluation of the merits of your case.  Oftentimes, there are insurance benefits that a person has paid for but has not received or another person may be wholly or partly responsible for the injuries.  A personal injury lawyer or car accident lawyer from Moody Law can meet with you for a free consultation.  Our attorneys are available for home or hospital visits upon request.
