An accident between a dump truck and a taxi-cab occurred at approximately 1:55 a.m. on SR 528.  Edwin Canales, 49, of Kissimmee was driving the dump truck and, for unknown reasons, struck a taxi driven by Fleurinat Estephene, 39, of Orlando.  A 55-year old passenger in the taxi was killed.  Estephene is in critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.  The taxi was pushed over 200 feet forward.

This is a tragic accident where it is unknown why the dump truck struck the car.  From what it reported, even if there was something that the taxi driver might have done wrong, this crash appears to be almost exclusively the fault of the dump truck driver.  Despite the horrific nature of the accident, this appears to be one of those situations where a car is parked along the side of the road and the truck driver followed the lights thinking that car was actually on the road and moving.  This is a common mistake made by fatigued drivers.  This is a case where the plaintiff needs to look into how long the truck driver had been on the road.  If you or a loved one have questions or concerns regarding truck or car accident cases as well as wrongful death in the State of Florida, please contact a Central Florida truck accident lawyer for free advice and a free consultation.
