Kimberley Hansell died as a result of a collision on Bomber Road at approximately 5:45 p.m. when the driver of another vehicle crossed the double yellow line striking her vehicle head on.  38-year-old Jefrey Wilson of Wahneta, Florida is reported to have crossed the double yellow line in his Dodge Caravan.  Hansell was carrying a passenger, Daniel Kollmansberger, at the time of the collision.  Kollmansberger was transported to Winter Haven Hospital with injuries.  Wilson was reported to have been treated and released on the scene.  The crash is still under investigation.  All persons involved were reported to have been wearing seatbelts and the airbags were reported to have deployed.

This accident is certainly a tragedy, however, as with all accidents there is legal and financial side that needs to be handled appropriately.  Ms. Hansell's insurance policy would normally provide a $5,000 death benefit and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.  Mr. Kollmansberger may have his own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage that would apply in addition to no-fault and health insurance.  However, Florida does not require drivers to carry bodily injury liability coverage.  Therefore, there is a possibility that the Dodge Caravan may not have been covered by insurance or, if it was, might only be $10,000 per person and $20,0000 per accident.  These are all issues that a Polk County personal injury attorney can handle.  Consultations with personal injury attorneys are generally free.
