A Cessna 340 crashed on approach in Freeport, Bahamas with four men on board.  The plane was piloted by Dean Carlson and was carrying Ormond Beach attorney, Michael Kennedy, who had an office time share in the Bahamas.  The names of the other two deceased have not been released.  The plane crashed at low tide in shallow water near mangroves.

The overwhelming majority of airplane crashes occur while landing or taking off.  These are times where the pilots have the most to pay attention to and there is a greater opportunity for mistakes to be made.  Aviation accidents are frequently the result of pilot error or an equipment failure.  In the event of a pilot error, aviation accidents are normally covered by liability insurance on the aircraft.  In the event of an equipment failure, injured parties can sometimes bring a claim against the manufacturer of the failed equipment for either a design defect or manufacturing defect.  Faulty maintenance may also be to blame and the pilot would have been completely unaware that an airworthiness issue exists until it is too late.  If you lost a loved one in an aviation accident, you should contact a licensed and qualified attorney to assist with the investigation and evaluate the possible liabilities of those who may be responsible for the crash.  The attorneys at Moody Law have experience in handling aviation matters and Mr. Moody is a seasoned pilot himself.  If you are in need of aviation accident attorney, please contact the attorneys at Moody Law for a free case evaluation.
