Doctor Terminates Wrong Fetus

Sarasota, Florida.  A doctor has lost his medical license after performing a termination on the wrong fetus.  The Florida Board of Medicine has revoked the license of Matthew Kachinas.  The woman was about 16 weeks pregnant with twins in January 2006.  The woman asked Kachinas to perform a selective termination on one fetus that had congenital defects.  A later ultrasound found that the other fetus, which did not appear to have any medical problems, had been terminated.  Kachinas had told the St. Petersburg Times that he thought that he would be able to do the procedure safely and appropriately event hough he had never tried that procedure before.
