Winter Haven, Florida.  This accident happened on Cypress Gardens Boulevard near Register Road at approximately 1:50 a.m.  47-year-old Timmy Kelly was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle when an accident with a hit and run pickup truck caused seriously injury to him.  The truck is believed to be a light-colored late model pickup, possibly a Chevrolet, with a 3 inch lift kit installed.  The truck is expected to have rear bumper damage along with a damaged tail light.  Kelly is the owner of Sure Central Air in Winter Haven, Florida.  Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office to assist law enforcement in the investigation.

It is a felony to leave the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury.  From the description of this accident in The Ledger, it would seem reasonable that the driver of the pickup truck had to have known that there was an impact.  It is very difficult to say exactly what may have happened in this accident and why it happened without the unidentified truck.  This accident, much like virtually all other accidents, likely is the result of some combination of negligence between the drivers.  There are many situations where the answer to who is at fault for the accident and why is not a simple answer.  Should you or a loved one have a question about a car accident in the greater Central Florida area, including Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow, and all of Polk County, Florida, please contact a personal injury or car accident lawyer to discuss the situation.
