It is a felony to leave the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury. From the description of this accident in The Ledger, it would seem reasonable that the driver of the pickup truck had to have known that there was an impact. It is very difficult to say exactly what may have happened in this accident and why it happened without the unidentified truck. This accident, much like virtually all other accidents, likely is the result of some combination of negligence between the drivers. There are many situations where the answer to who is at fault for the accident and why is not a simple answer.
