Lakeland Truck Accident Lawyer
Lakeland, Florida A Growing Commercial Hub
The largest city on Interstate 4 between Tampa and Orlando, Lakeland, FL, has experienced substantial growth since the turn of the millennium. The United States Census Bureau recorded the population of Lakeland to be 78,452 in the year 2000, with estimates for 2019 totaling 112,136. Long-time residents may be surprised to learn that the population increase over the last two decades has seen the local population swell by nearly 70 percent. While great for the local economy, with such a remarkable expansion in our community, our roads have seen an even greater increase in traffic.
Companies like Amazon and FedEx have established both freight and fulfillment hubs in the area to meet the ever-increasing logistics needs of Polk County and Greater Central Florida. This has led to a growth of commercial vehicle traffic, from semi-tractor trailers to delivery trucks. While a sign of growing commercial development, this also translates to a greater number of large trucks on the roads and more trucking accidents. If you or a family member have suffered a personal injury due to a truck crash in Lakeland FL, the team of truck accident attorneys at Moody Law, P.A. can help.

Three major thoroughfares connecting the east and west coast of Florida run through Lakeland, including:
Interstate 4
Spanning 132 miles from Tampa in the west to Daytona Beach on the Atlantic coast, Interstate 4 (I-4) intersects several major expressways throughout the state as it traverses Central Florida. Crossing the north side of Lakeland, FL, I-4 intersects Polk Parkway (SR 570) which runs as a semi-loop through Winter Haven and Bartow before returning to I-4 at the campus of Florida Polytechnic University near Polk City.
As the major highway in the area, I-4 is all too regularly the scene of multi-vehicle accidents that include large trucks. In June of 2020, a 22-year-old Lakeland woman lost her life when she was involved in a five-vehicle accident that included a large truck.
U.S. Route 98
The longest US road in Florida, U.S. Route 98 (US 98) runs 671 miles from Pensacola in the panhandle to Palm Beach on the east coast. Traveling along the Gulf Coast from where it begins in Alabama, US 98 crosses the Alabama-Florida border at Escambia County, making its way along the northwestern portion of Florida before heading inland. As a route to and from Dade City, US 98 becomes North Florida Avenue (SR 35) as it enters Lakeland before following Bartow Road (SR 35) on the way out of town.
In May 2018, a fatal crash occurred at US 98 North and Rockridge Road when a truck driver impeded a passenger car's right of way, striking the car. The driver of the car did not survive while the truck driver was uninjured.
U.S. Route 92
Connecting Daytona Beach in the east to St. Petersburg on the Gulf Coast, U.S. Route 92 (US 92) is a 181-mile intrastate highway that prior to the construction of I-4, connected Lakeland to Tampa and Orlando. US 92 runs concurrently with Wabash Avenue as it heads north until heading east as Memorial Boulevard on its way out of Lakeland towards Winter Haven.
While the volume of traffic on US 92 is lower than I-4, US 92 is still a major roadway in the area. A motorcyclist was killed in July 2019 after colliding with a semi-truck at US 92 and Fish Hatchery Road.

Why You Need a Truck Accident Lawyer
Truck Accidents Can Lead to Catastrophic Injuries
A car accident between a passenger vehicle and a large truck can leave victims with a life-changing personal injury that can take years to fully realize. This underscores the importance of seeking medical attention following a truck accident even if you do not think you have sustained a serious injury. This fact also illustrates why seeking the services of a truck accident lawyer is so important.
Dealing with a trucking company and its insurance company directly may cause you to settle before realizing the long term repercussions of your car accident. In such cases, any subsequent medical bills from future treatments will not be covered.
The team at Moody Law, P.A. has dealt with all aspects of truck accident cases and has seen a number of long term injuries reveal themselves months and years following the initial accident, including:
Brain Injuries
The significant forces generated during a truck accident can cause traumatic brain injuries. Symptoms such as cognitive disorders, memory loss, concentration issues, mood swings, and chronic headaches are just a small sample of the long term effects of a brain injury. Brain injuries can also lead to sensory issues such as vision problems, hearing loss, or a loss of sense of smell. Difficult to treat, a brain injury can impact the victim's personal relationships and affect their ability to return to work.
Spinal Injuries
From whiplash to more serious injuries, a car accident with a commercial truck can exacerbate the severity of injuries common to car accidents. Depending on the level of damage and the location of the injury, this pain may resolve itself through extensive physical therapy, but some victims may experience pain for the rest of their lives. More serious truck accidents can lead to partial or complete paralysis due to a spinal cord injury, which can impact the victim's ability to return to work and live independently.
"Mr. Moody came highly recommended by personal friends who are attorneys that practice in other areas. Additional research showed that Moody Law is quite reputable in the personal injury arena. From the initial consultation we felt as if we were part of the family. Every detail was explained up front and throughout the entire process the staff was quick to respond to questions and there were many. Through their effort we received a fair settlement that was much greater than the lowball offer the insurance company initially presented which didnt even cover the associated medical bills. I just cannot speak highly enough of Mr. Moody and his dedicated staff of professionals." BIll Moffatt 5-Star Review
